In 2021 USDBC began to implement a new initiative designed to advocate globally for reasonable science-based tolerances for the use of crop protection tools or MRLs, the Crop Protection Action Coalition for Trade (CPACT). The program targets the locations where the concern over low or zero tolerances or MRLs is of greatest concern – UK/EU, Mexico, and certain Southeast Asian nations and includes a program of meetings, attendance at global MRL-focused events, workshops, and one-on-one meetings with stakeholders. The program will run as the private sector/grower arm of USDA’s own MRL-focused initiative and will follow closely with US government priorities but will also create a broader plan of action to allow for private sector exchange and dialogue. Over the past month, CPACT’s membership has expanded to include NASDA and the Minor Use Foundation, we anticipate several other new members joining in the near future. CPACT is a project of USDBC and is implemented with the North Hill Group and funded through USDA/FAS’ Global Broad-Based Initiatives (GBI) program. CPACT also includes founding members U.S. Dry Pea and Lentil Council and USA Rice. See our most recent press release here: https://usdrybeans.com/2022/08/25/usdbc-welcomes-nasda-to-crop-protection-alliance/
