USDBC JOINS THE BEAN RALLY IN BRAZIL
October 7, 2022We will be joining IBRAFE’s (Brazilian Bean and Pulse Institute) inaugural Bean Rally. The Bean Rally is an extensive tour of dry bean production areas in one of the most important Brazilian growing states, Mato Grosso. The Rally will include bean growers and interested stakeholders and takes place from November 28 – December 9. The 2000km (1200 mile) journey will visit six growing regions within Mato Grosso with the objective to create strong ties with local producers and encourage greater dry bean production as Brazil’s annual production has been decreasing every year. And while this may seem counterintuitive, as Brazil is an important competitor and export destination market, our role will be to observe, learn, and form new contacts within the Brazilian dry bean industry. It is critical for us to have an in-depth understanding of local production trends in all competitor and export markets. We also believe that a rising tide floats all boats. While the production of dry beans is always variable from year to year, our goal is to promote increased global consumption. With this in mind, greater consumption equals greater demand and more opportunities for everyone whether with whole beans, bean ingredients, or beans in all forms. Additionally, we have long-standing and strong ties with the Brazilian dry bean industry and it is important for us to maintain and cultivate these linkages for future cooperation. Our Brazilian representative, Alisson Mendonca will be the USDBC representative for this activity.
