INITIAL MEXICO DRY BEAN HARVEST OVERVIEW NOTES LATE PLANTING

Dry bean planting for the spring/summer cycle has concluded in Zacatecas, Durango and Chihuahua. Based on our field visits, we have observed that dry bean planting area was reduced in comparison with the previous cycle, and beans were planted late, after the recommended dates, due to the late arrival of rain in July. The general condition of beans in the three states is as follows: 38% excellent, 59% good and 3% regular, all in the growing stage, with the state of Chihuahua presenting the better development, with bean pods already forming.
