LegumeChef UK/Chef JuanMa Collaboration Wows Influencers

Chef Juan Ma El CieloIn early November USDBC held a special session on innovative cooking with U.S. dry beans via its LegumeChef program in the U.K., featuring Michelin starred Master Chef Juan Manuel Barrientos of El Cielo group of restaurants. USDBC/Chef JuanMa events have taken place over the last year as part of our Bean Innovation program and consist of live cooking webinars and social media sessions with key influencers to show how beans are modern, exciting, healthy, and delicious. For this session Chef Juan Ma prepared a black bean biscuit with a black bean merengue. This was prepared live via Instagram in El Cielo’s DC restaurant while seven well-known British influencers watched and interacted. The influencers were then sent ingredients and instructions to prepare the dishes in their homes and discuss with their own followers on Instagram.

The U.K. is one of the top European and global export markets for U.S. dry beans and is one of the top global markets promoting plant-based and vegan diets and foods. This session was extremely well received and we look forward to follow-up and additional events with the U.K. and other European influencers.
