The Pulses for Health Alliance is an initiative of USDBC in partnership with the USA Dry Pea and Lentil Council funded by USDA/FAS’ Global Broad-Based Initiatives (GBI) Program. The objective of the Alliance is to increase the consumption of US pulses by focusing on nutrition and preparation. The program responds to increasing concern for health and obesity in Mexico and will cover similar nutrition-related topics in several other countries in Latin America. The program also addresses the desire of regional governments to address this via national food policies. The work of the Alliance targets the trade, local government stakeholders, teachers, nutritionists, doctors, chefs, food scientists, and R&D managers. The program includes; an educational training program for influential groups through seminars / webinars and a social media consumer program promoting the qualities of pulses, nutritional facts, and recipes / preparation. Various training materials are in development and the website is live but still being populated. Make sure to check back frequently for updates. http://www.alianzaleguminosas.org/index.html
