Strong Showing For USDBC at GPC Pulses ’19 Conference
June 19, 2019For the first time, USDBC was a gold sponsor of the Global Pulse Confederation’s (GPC) annual conference, Pulses 19 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. This year was particularly critical for USDBC to have a strong showing at this leading industry event, with so many new developments in global trade dynamics.

USDBC delegates included from L to R, Alisson Mendonca-Brazil Contractor, Judd Keller-Kelley Bean and GPC Executive Committee member, Ellen Levinson-USDBC Americas rep, Xu Fang-USDBC China, and Alejandro Leloir-USDBC Regional Rep Americas.
In addition to a three person trade delegation representing USDBC, we also had four members of our Americas staff in attendance as well as our China representative who joined USDBC in the last few months. The China/Americas dry bean trade dynamic is critical as the decline in Chinese dry bean exports has the potential to open several new opportunities for greater US dry bean market share throughout South and Central America (not including Mexico). Additionally, we are following data that suggests that China will become a net importer of dry beans in the near future.

USDBC sponsored bean based luncheon in Rio de Janeiro
Our sponsorship gave us critical exposure to key influencers and partners in global dry bean trade as well as an opportunity to share our own perspective on dry bean market dynamics. In addition to a speaking slot at the conference plenary, USDBC provided several hand outs, sponsored a bean based luncheon, moderated a session on white beans, and participated as a panelist on a session on color beans. This was an excellent opportunity to solidify our partnership with GPC and touch base with the global dry bean industry. We also congratulate Cindy Brown, President of Chippewa Valley Beans on her election as President of GPC. We look forward to continued collaboration.
