THE US DRY BEAN INDUSTRY MEETS WITH KEY CONTACTS IN WASHINGTON DC
April 19, 2019
The USDBC delegation at USDA’s Executive Offices
USDBC conducted a successful fly in to Washington DC in early April bringing a unified message on the need for additional investment in dry bean research and encouraging swift resolution of ongoing trade disputes and ratification of the US Mexico Canada Agreement (USMCA). The delegation consisted of eighteen representatives from most USDBC member organizations. Delegates met with Senate and House Agricultural staff, USDA Agricultural Research Service (ARS) leadership, Ken Isley – FAS Administrator and FAS trade staff. Delegates also met with their state Senators and Representatives to discuss industry priorities and the need for Congressional support for several current and future initiatives. This was an excellent opportunity to advocate for US industry priorities and enhance our visibility with the administration and Congress. Another fly in will be planned for 2020.
