Our trade team application for the 2019 calendar year is out and we will be accepting applications through July 14, 2018. If you have not received the application, please reach out to your USDBC board delegate. Delegates and alternates for each mission will be assigned at the Summer Board Meeting in late July.

A trade mission scheduled to Brazil for early June was cancelled due to the Brazilian truckers’ strike and subsequent postponement of the Foro Feijao (Bean Forum), the primary objective of the trade mission. The Foro is now rescheduled for August 15 – 17, 2018. We will not be conducting a trade mission but USDBC staff will be in attendance.

USDBC’s International Food Aid rep is in the last stretch of meetings across Malawi and Tanzania with PVOs, WFP, and USAID. She is headed out for field visits to see U.S. dry beans at school feedings in rural Tanzania before finishing up in Rome to meet with WFP staff responsible for programming global food baskets.

USDBC Global Food Aid Rep Lorena Alfaro visits the staff and children who participated in the MSU Legume Innovation Lab’s feeding study in Malawi.
